Our History
Para Hills Knights Soccer Club, founded in 1964, is based in Para Hills West in Adelaide’s northern suburbs. The club has grown into a proud part of the local sporting community, recognised for its focus on player development and strong supporter base. Today, the Knights compete in the National Premier Leagues South Australia.
24 Mar 1964 — Club founded
Para Hills Knights Soccer Club was founded on March 24, 1964, with the mission of promoting and fostering soccer within the local community of Para Hills West. From humble beginnings, the club quickly became a cornerstone of the area’s sporting life, uniting players, families, and supporters under a shared passion for the game.
1967 — Early Promotion from the Lower Divisions
Within just a few seasons, the Knights achieved their first promotion from the lower divisions. This early success signaled the club’s potential and set the stage for future progress, inspiring players and building pride among its growing supporter base.
Mid-1970s — Reaching the Top Flight
By the mid-1970s, Para Hills had risen to compete in South Australia’s top division. This achievement was a defining milestone, bringing the club into the state’s premier competition and raising its profile within the wider football community.
Early 1980s — First Major Cup Success
The early 1980s marked a breakthrough period as the Knights captured their first major cup trophy. This success not only brought silverware to the club but also established its reputation as a serious competitor in South Australian football.
1986 — Move to The Paddocks
In 1986, the club relocated to its permanent home at The Paddocks. This new venue provided the facilities and stability needed to sustain growth, and over time it became central to the Knights’ identity, hosting countless matches and community events.
Early 1990s — The Knights
During the early 1990s, the club officially adopted the “Knights” name, ushering in a new era of identity and ambition. The rebrand reflected both tradition and progress, reinforcing the club’s competitive spirit while strengthening its connection to the community.
2010s — Growth of Juniors and Women’s Programs
The 2010s brought significant growth in youth development and women’s football. The Knights expanded their programs to create stronger pathways, offering opportunities for players of all ages and building inclusivity at every level of the club.
2023 — NPL Promotion
A major modern milestone arrived in 2023 when Para Hills Knights secured promotion to the National Premier Leagues South Australia. This achievement marked a proud return to one of the state’s top competitive tiers and reaffirmed the club’s long-standing ambition.
Today — A Club for Community and Development
Today, Para Hills Knights remain true to their founding values, combining competitive football with a strong focus on junior development and community engagement. More than fifty years on, the club continues to inspire passion and pride throughout Adelaide’s northern suburbs.
